About Me

Hi! I'm Alicia, wife and mother of 4 great kids.  I love creating images that are "worth a thousand words" whether it's in the candid moment, or posed portrait.  I hope you enjoy what you see here, because I love sharing it with all of you!

Photography for me is like a game of golf.  You may not be really great, but when you go out and hit one or two really nice shots, it makes you want to keep playing.  Unfortunately, not every image I take is a "hole in one" and sometimes I'm left wondering what in the world I'm thinking.  But photography is something I do love.  It stretches my natural abilities, forces me to learn new things, and occasionally when I capture something great, it encourages me to keep trying.

To me a picture really is worth a thousand words.  There are times I may not feel like getting the camera out, but when I do I am so thankful to have stopped time and preserved a memory. I hope you'll enjoy viewing the images I post here.  Please feel free to leave a comment or email me at alicia@thecervas.com.  I love hearing from you!

Megan was so proud of this drawing she created on her easel that we couldn't resist taking a picture and sharing it with you!  She hopes it will brighten your day! I know it did mine!

a new fav

Here's my new favorite picture of Canyon.  The other day I asked him if he wanted to run out for a few pictures, and he actually said yes!  He is the one I have the least pictures of because he never wants to go with me.  After he said yes, I tried to talk him out of it because I was running out of time and light, but he insisted and I'm glad he did!

lucky for you...

Here's something you don't see every day!  Lucky for you, this helicopter made a spectacular landing, otherwise you might just be seeing more pictures of the slope dopes!  It was beautiful in Park City yesterday...if any of you are missing the sunshine and blue skies, I recommend a day in the canyons!!

a few changes...

I have decided to make a few changes to the way I run my business.  I have learned a few things about myself over the past year.  The first, is that I feel really uncomfortable charging people to "just take the pictures."   The second, is that when I don't charge someone to "take the pictures" I am so much more relaxed during the session and feel like I can just do my thing without a whole lot of expectation - no pressure.  It is so much more fun for me that way, and I feel that unless I'm enjoying myself then it's not worth my time.  The third is that what I really want is for my clients to actually have a high quality image to display in their home, not just a CD of images that never come to fruition.

Having said that, it does take time to create images that people will love.  Time to prepare, time at the session, and a lot of time at the computer.  So while I am eliminating session fees, there will be a minimum print purchase required, and full resolution digital images on CD for clients to print on their own will no longer be available.

The minimum purchase amount is different for each session and is due at the time of the session.  Once the images are ready, they will be posted here on this blog for you to see.  I will also schedule a time for clients to come to my home to view each image and to place their print order.  The total amount in prints is due at the time the order is placed, and the amount previously paid at the time of the session will be deducted from the total.

Because I know that it is fun to share images on blogs, websites, and other social networking sites,  for each session I will make available 2-4 low res, water-marked images via e-mail for clients to share with friends and family.

Here is the "official" new pricing information.

(There is also a link in the side bar where this information will be posted as well)
